Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Introduction
CaliforniaWarn ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information when you use our Service.
2. Information We Collect
We do not operate an account, profile, or sign-up of any kind. There is no form on this site that asks who you are. You can use the entire Service without telling us anything about yourself.
Information you send us. If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to put in that message and we keep it only as long as needed to answer you.
Payment Information. For paid products (such as compliance templates), payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store credit card information.
Usage Data. We automatically collect standard log data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referral sources. This data is used for analytics and security monitoring.
Public Data. The layoff data displayed on the Service is compiled from publicly available California WARN Act filings. This is public record and is not collected from users.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Respond to messages you send us
- Process payments for paid products
- Improve the Service through analytics
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
4. How We Share Your Information
Service providers: We use trusted third parties for hosting (Cloudflare), payment processing (Stripe), and site analytics (Google Analytics). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
Advertising partners: This site is monetized through Journey by Mediavine, which serves programmatic display advertising. Mediavine and its advertising partners may collect device and browsing information, including through cookies and similar technologies, and may use it to select and measure the ads you see. Mediavine's processing is governed by its own privacy policy, available at mediavine.com/privacy-policy.
Legal compliance: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government regulation.
We do not sell anything you send us directly, such as the contents of an email, to advertisers or to anyone else. We do not share your information with recruiters, employers, or law firms.
Programmatic advertising may qualify as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out at any time using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of any page.
5. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:
- Right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Right to delete your personal information (we will process deletion requests within 45 days)
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@californiawarn.com with "CCPA Request" in the subject line.
You can also opt out of data sharing at any time by clicking the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of any page.
6. Data Retention
We hold no user profiles or accounts. Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer them.
Usage data and analytics are retained for up to 12 months for operational purposes.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure data storage, and restricted access controls. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies for site functionality and Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used.
Our advertising partner, Journey by Mediavine, and the advertising exchanges it works with also set cookies and similar identifiers to select and measure advertising. These are third-party advertising cookies.
You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings, and you can manage advertising consent using the privacy link in the footer of any page.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
