California WARN Act filing history
HRL Laboratories notified 376 employees on February 3, 2026, that their positions would be eliminated effective April 3, 2026. The layoffs are the result of the anticipated termination of a government program. The majority of the cuts (258 positions) affect the Malibu headquarters at 3011 Malibu Canyon Drive, with additional reductions at satellite campuses in Calabasas, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, and Santa Monica. HRL has stated the layoffs are expected to be permanent and that satellite campuses may close, with remaining staff relocated to Malibu. Affected roles include scientists, cybersecurity and systems engineers, financial analysts, and IT professionals. This is the second WARN notice from HRL, following an initial filing on November 17, 2025. HRL Laboratories, formerly Hughes Research Laboratories, is owned by General Motors and Boeing.
